GOTHAM'S DREW POWELL PERFORMS MONOLOGUE I WROTE - "NEW METRIC"

***VIDEO PERFORMANCE AT BOTTOM OF THIS POST***
Early into our quarantine living, two talented souls I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with in the past reached out to me to see if I would be interested in participating in the creative collective they began putting together (called Solos In Solidarity) in efforts to provide an outlet for fellow creatives, as well as an entertaining escape for any audiences that might be interested. I of course said "yes" and could never have guessed that I would feel so well paired up with someone I had never met before. Don't get me wrong, I would be surprised to find out that anyone is capable of not getting along with and finding a fitting collaborator out of Drew Powell. I had of course seen some of his past work, primarily on Fox's Gotham, for which I'll admit I haven't finished watching in it's entirety (but I imagine I have the time now...). and genuinely found his work on the show in the early seasons to be the standout. So I can't tell you what a delight it was to have the opportunity to work with him in this capacity. It was a journey landing on the final draft that you see posted below. While I have been growing in my screenwriting, a monologue was certainly new territory for me. Finding the right length, tone, and voice to match Drew's was a great exercise and Drew was a brilliant sounding board to bounce ideas off of along the way. Drew of course elevated the material I provided as I can only imagine he does with any words he's given the opportunity to perform. I hope you enjoy my monologue "New Metric" and take the time to view some of the other amazing performance pieces posted on Solos In Solidarity on Instagram. Give them a Like, a Follow, and Share with anyone you know who might also appreciate these lovely mashups of creatives.
